  * 1704: John Campbell "the Boston News-Letter" 정기간행물 발행 (신문사로 등록한 후)
  * 1780s–1830s: 정치 (영국 vs 미식민지) 관련 정기간행물, 선전 선동물 발행이 성행
  * 1792: 미 우체국이 신문배달료를 책정하여 운영
