As an extension of the social learning theory, social cognitive theory focuses on social influence and reinforcement play a key role in acquiring, maintaining and changing behavior.

Individual behavior is a result of reinforcement, individual experiences, aspirations, etc.

While the former focuses on the process of learning, the latter focuses on the social process of learning. By social process, it deals with ideas such as modeling (observational learning), expectations of outcomes, self-efficacy, setting goals, and self-regulation.
